Bilbao airport (BIO)

Bilbao Airport is just 9 km to the north of the city of Bilbao. Start your trip smiling and let us transfer you from door to door. Get ready to enjoy one of the most historical cities in the north of Spain.

Bilbao is the capital of the province of Biscay, in the city and its metropolitan area live close to one million inhabitants. The most symbolic icon of Bilbao which has turned the city into an even more international one is the Guggenheim Museum, designed by Fran O. Gehry. At the entrance, we find the also well-known Puppy, a giant dog 12m high and curiously decorated with flowers. The Guggenheim in Bilbao has both temporary exhibitions as one of the most important collections of modern and contemporary art, which shares with homonyms museums in New York and Venice.

Bilbao is a city to enjoy it outdoors, whether admiring the nature, beaches and coastal towns around it or walking around the city and enjoying its many museums and architectural gems. We recommend that you do not miss a walk through the area where many iconic buildings stand, the so-called Abandoibarra area. Also do not miss Doña Casilda Park, home to the Museum of Fine Arts, considered one of the best in Spain.
Neither can you miss the Old Town area and stroll around the famous 7 streets, known as the oldest in the city. There you will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the best Basque gastronomic customs, pintxos. There is nothing better than to enjoy pintxos before you go for a big meal. Jump from one pub to another and let yourself be surprised by the most original pintxos. Search the most authentic bars in and around Plaza Nueva.

If visiting Bilbao in time do not forget to visit nearby urban beaches. Portugalete and Getxo are mandatory stops, with their peculiar charm and old buildings near the harbour. Way between a municipality and the other you will have to cross using the Puente Colgante of Vizcaya, a suspended bridge considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Also do not forget the obligatory stop in the biosphere reserve of Urdaibai, a natural area that leaves no one indifferent.
