Situated beside the Atlantic Ocean, La Coruña is a historic city which has maintained close links with its old fishing and commercial port. The peninsula on which the Old City stands also contains the Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been in continuous operation for almost 2000 years. This is, in fact, the oldest lighthouse in the world and has been declared World Heritage monument. There are more tan 200 steps to the top and the view over the city is a worthy reward.

La Coruña is the perfect walking city due to the Paseo Marítimo, a ten-kilometer long seaside promenade that encircles the city from the Orzón Beach to the marina next to María Píta Square.

The Old Town of La Coruña is the perfect location to enjoy the famous Galician cuisine, with lots of restaurants in the city centre specialising in traditional recipes. Typical dishes include sea scallop, fried squid, mussels and lobsters.
