Rotterdam is a major port city in the Netherlands' province of South Holland with many interesting sights, both modern and new. The waterside walks along the Maas River offer uninterrupted views of the ships passing by and views of the iconic Erasmus Bridge.

The 17th-century Delfshaven neighbourhood is an enclosed harbour that once held the shipping warehouses of the Dutch East India Company. Delfshaven is known internationally as the last port in Europe the Pilgrim Fathers stopped in before their journey to America.

After being almost completely reconstructed following the Second World War, the city is now known for its bold, modern architecture, with highlights including the Overblaak Development with its tilted yellow and grey cubed houses, the De Rotterdam building and the Centraal Station.
